In 1985 I went to train for Anglican ministry at Ripon College, Cuddesdon, Oxford. I was ordained Deacon in 1987, served as a curate at Holy Cross Church, Newcastle – where I was also Chair of the Newcastle Christian Aid Group – and was ordained Priest in 1988.
- 1990 – beame Vicar of St Augustine of Canterbury, Limbury, Luton in the Diocese of St Albans.
- 1995 – Rural Dean of Luton, liaising with civic, ecumenical and other faith leaders.
- 1999 – Archdeacon of St Albans. I was also awarded a PhD by King’s College London in October 1999 for research on the understanding of religious belief which underlies the practice of collective worship in schools.
